As someone deeply passionate about photography, it's easy to lose sight of the joy that initially sparked my love for the craft. Recently, through conversations with fellow creatives, I realised something quite profound – I rarely pick up my camera purely for the pleasure it brings. In the hustle and bustle of professional commitments and the convenience of smartphones, I've inadvertently neglected the very essence of what drew me to photography in the first place.
My goal for this year is to rekindle that sense of enjoyment and spontaneity in my photography. I aim to pick up my camera more often simply for the delight it brings, without the pressure of professional obligations.
This weekend I did just that. And it felt great. I spent the morning at the monthly Southside Hustle classic car meet in Wimbledon Village and headed to East London in the afternoon for the annual Grimaldi Clown Service.
Unlike previous resolutions I've made at this time of year, I believe this is one I might genuinely stick to.
