I love working in primary schools and luckily that’s something that I get to do on a regular basis across Merton and West London; whether it’s photographing for school websites, Reception pupils for my New Faces collage, Year 6s for their leavers collage or yearbooks, or the many music classes and workshops that I shoot for Merton Music Foundation, and then there’s my photography workshops and the work I do for West London Zone.
Today was my third visit of the week to Hatfeild Primary School and it’s the best feeling walking through the corridors and children knowing me by name or at least recognising me as ‘the lady who took our photos’. So this week I’ve been taking individual photos of the Reception children for my New Faces collage which I’ve been doing at Hatfeild for the last 16 years. When the children reach Year 6, I’ll do another one for them and parents/guardians can order keyrings with their child’s Reception photo on one side and their Year 6 photo on the other. It’s a really popular keepsake of their time at primary school and I also produce them for other schools in the borough. It’s a job I look forward to every year.
It’s always good to travel light to these shoots as there’s often a couple of children absent on the day so I make every effort to go back and make sure no one misses out.
If your school would be interested in trialling any of my school photos, please use the contact form to get in touch.
